Friday Fives!

I'm back with my Friday Fives, and I"m going to link up to The Girl Creative and her New Friend Friday party.......
New Friend Fridays

it's always fun to see new blogs and see what people are doing....especially for inspiration in Fall Decorating!  I really haven't started, but I love the inspiration!
So I have some sort of random questions for our Friday Fives today, but some of them are related to topics I've covered of late!

1.  What smells do you bring into your home for the fall?  Do you have favorite candles, potpourri, or reeds/oils?

2.  Have you ever had any surgery?

3.  What food do you look forward to cooking with the coming of fall?

4.  What's one thing you'd like to do this fall that you've wanted to do for a while?  Apple Picking?  Hiking?  Trying a new recipe?

5. Finally, how many blogs do you read/follow and how often do you leave comments on them?

I leave you with a favorite recipe that is a REALLY good one to try for the fall...it is SO YUMMY!!!
Apple Cake w/ Caramel Sauce
Cake:
3/4 c. butter
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. all-purpose flour
2 t. ground cinnamon
2 t. baking soda
1/2 t. ground nutmeg
1/2 t. salt
4 c. peeled, finely chopped apples (Granny Smith or McIntosh)
1 t. vanilla

Sauce:
3/4 c. butter
3/4 c. granulated sugar
3/4 c. packed brown sugar
3/4 c. heavy cream
1 1/2 t. vanilla

Cake: Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 13 X 9 inch cake pan. Cream butter and sugar in a large bowl. Beat in eggs one at a time. Sift together dry ingredients and add to egg mixture alternately with apples. Stir in vanilla. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Cool in pan for 5 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm.

Sauce: Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Immediately remove from heat and spoon over individual servings of warm cake.

I like cinnamon smells but I don't burn candles or use any other scented products.

2. Have you ever had any surgery?
I had a bunion removed the year I got married.

3. What food do you look forward to cooking with the coming of fall?
Chili!!

4. What's one thing you'd like to do this fall that you've wanted to do for a while? Apple Picking? Hiking? Trying a new recipe?
I can't wait to go to the Blue Ridge Parkway for a Sunday drive when the leaves change.

5. Finally, how many blogs do you read/follow and how often do you leave comments on them?
I don't know how many I follow. My blogging time is very limited b/c I work full time so I don't comment as much as I would like.

YUMMY! I will give this one a whirl, thanks for sharing. I just baked apple/carrot/strawberry muffins, so I better wait a few days to bake again or I might have to get bigger pants :)

1. What smells do you bring into your home for the fall? Do you have favorite candles, potpourri, or reeds/oils? I break out the Yankee Candle Tart burners this time of year and through Christmas. I use them all year long, but no where near the acceleration I see in the Fall...there are so many great sents but apple, pumpkin pie and cinnamon are right there at the top.

2. Have you ever had any surgery? C Section with my second child....the little breach darling

3. What food do you look forward to cooking with the coming of fall? I go into baking hyperdrive in the Fall...lots of cookies and cakes

4. What's one thing you'd like to do this fall that you've wanted to do for a while? Apple Picking? Hiking? Trying a new recipe? I'm still working hard on my lifestyle change, so hiking in the beautiful fall outdoors would be something I would enjoy

5. Finally, how many blogs do you read/follow and how often do you leave comments on them? Wow, I read and follow a bunch...not sure how many but probably around 200. I work full time, but am blessed to work at home so I do have access during the day as well as in the evenings. I try hard to comment often, as I know how much I like it when people visit me and are kind enough to comment and let me know they were there...I try to return that every chance I get.

By the way, going to send you an email soon...there are some things I need from my favorite Willow House hostess. Have a great weekend.

I need some fall inspiration so thanks for the link!

Here are mine-

1. Right now I have Yankee Candle Farmers Market in my kitchen. I pretty much always have a cinnamon scent going. Its not overpowering and I generally am not a big fan of anything too floraly. Unless it is actual real flowers.

2. Yes. A three year old child managed to rip the tendon in my thumb as I was lifting him out of a carpool line. Believe me-you have no idea how much you need that thumb! It was a long recovery and involved screws in my hand, a button sewed onto the outside of my hand, a cast, a splint and pt...it took me almost a full year to get back to normal and I still feel it when the weather is damp.

3. I love the stew, soup and chili weather of fall. I love to cook with apples and hope to go apple picking this weekend. Also love to cook with butternut squash.

4. Well, hoping to go apple picking this weekend. We'll see how the weather turns out. I'd like to do a weekend camping trip this fall too.

5. I try to always leave a comment if I visit a blog. I read quite a few but am not sure of the number. Some days I'm better than others at commenting.

Yankee Candle SPICED PUMPKIN my all time fav!!

2. Have you ever had any surgery?

A c-section to deliver my twins(almost 20 yrs ago)

3. What food do you look forward to cooking with the coming of fall?

I love to bake just about anything when the touch of fall is in the air. Love making soups and stews as well

4. What's one thing you'd like to do this fall that you've wanted to do for a while? Apple Picking? Hiking? Trying a new recipe?

Travel the North Cascades Highway when all the leaves start turning I have heard it is breath taking.

5. Finally, how many blogs do you read/follow and how often do you leave comments on them?
I follow close to 300 blogs but do not read all of them everyday. I don't always comment because I want my comments to be sincere and not "canned" or robotic.

Thanks Suzanne
That cake sounds like one I make and it is YUMMY!!

1.What smells do you bring into your home for the fall? Do you have favorite candles, potpourri, or reeds/oils? I love the smell of all that is fall, as for candles I am just getting ready to pull out my pumpkin spice candle. Its cool and rainy here today and what I need is the smell of a warm pie in the oven. Just don't have the time to make one right now.

2. Have you ever had any surgery?
Yes I have.

3. What food do you look forward to cooking with the coming of fall?
Chili, I find making a big pot of chili or soup on Sunday after church the best way to prepare for a new week of challenges at work.

4. What's one thing you'd like to do this fall that you've wanted to do for a while? Apple Picking? Hiking? Trying a new recipe?
Visiting Nell Hills

5. Finally, how many blogs do you read/follow and how often do you leave comments on them?

I probably read five or six regularly and try to post a reply. Having just revived my own blog I know how uplifting replies are.

Ok here are mine
1. I like to do a mix of vanilla, cinnamon, and pumpkin or apple smells for fall! I like to change them up from room to room so that you "notice" the change when you walk in!
2. I have had oral surgery but that is about it!
3. I can't wait to make my Chocolate Pecan Pie - oh yes - it is as good and as horrible for you as it sounds!
4. I think I might make clam chowder this fall! We had some great chowder when we were on the Oregon coast and it just seems like the perfect thing for a fall day!
5. I read a ton of blogs in my reader (over 100 yikes!) and I try to hop over and leave comments on as many as possible. I ALWAYS comment on someone's blog who comments on mine.
