Some bookcase ideas for you.....

As you remember I was at the Southern Living at HOME convention recently, and they had a feature this year that I loved, and would love to share with you. They gave bookcase suggestions, and we all know how challenging it can be to make a great looking bookshelf. As well, we all know that a bookcase is NOT JUST FOR BOOKS, right???? Anyway, take a look at these ideas for your inspiration!

I just "stumbled" here and your post made me smile. My newlywed daughter just moved into a house with 2 walls of built in book cases. We have finally filled and arranged them, but it has taken some effort! Enjoyed my visit!

Those are all great bookcases!

I would LOVE to share some of our rain with you. I remember how hot and dry Houston would get in the summer. I am shocked that we have had as much rain as we are getting. We are usually dried up and about to blow away in Southern Oklahoma. This summer has been quite nice, well except for those 10 days in a row of 110 heat index days!

Ooo, Neat! I was drawn to the pink and green one because I just love pink. But the last one, the brown one, is very pretty and much more practical for my home. I enjoyed seeing these new ideas--sometimes I'm decorating-challenged. For instance, in the last photo they used books to give a little height to that pretty canister. I wouldn't think to do stuff like that. Or put a lamp smack dab in the middle!
Thanks for sharing this.

Love the bookcase ideas! I always try to tell people that they are not REALLY for books--haha! As much as I love books I always have more decor than books on the shelves. SL has gotten so many new products! I haven't had a party in ages. I have so many of their things, and love them all. Haven't been able to buy anything in a long while. So I will just ohhhh and ahhhhh over it online.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday!
You know I love ya!

Very good post, and one that we can all learn from Isn't it amazing, the differences between each bookcase? My favorite is number four. I'm sure my traditional nature dictates that. I love the red and the pottery and the plates and the books, and I believe I see just a little bit of a faux plant on the bottom shelf! lol!

Suzanne, you are SOOOO sweet all the time. Thank you most sincerely for the kind words you left on my blog today. I do appreciate it. You always make me feel so good! (hugs!) Donna

Those are just lovely! I think so many times people buy bookcases thinking they can store all of their books and junk and stuff and then wonder why they look distracting. Unfortuneatly, if you want it to look really good, you have to put the books in a cabinet and fiddle with displays on the shelves!

Great photos! Love the rust and robins egg blue!
