Photoshop Elements 7

I got this last spring for my birthday....and I had a goal of learning to use it over the summer.....kind of like taking a class, a few lessons at a time. I even got a book to walk me through the whole class, so that I could visually SEE what the cd was telling me to do....because I am a very visual learner. May I just say my plan failed miserably. Here it is August 26, 2009 and I have NOT OPENED the book, nor loaded the software to my laptop........so I need a NEW plan, obviously....I would like to go through it in the fall with the goal of having finished it by end of November....so perhaps Thursdays will be my Photoshop day, taking an hour or so every Thursday to go thru some of the chapters, experimenting on how to use the software and then showing YOU some of the lessons I am learning.
Do you have experience with Photoshop Elements? Am I going to be able to master this???? It is a challenge for me, but I'd like to think I can handle it.....any experienced PE users out there to offer technical support should I need it???? That would be so great if we could help each other out.....er, you help me and maybe something I post will help you....or you could ask for help on something domestic that challenges you, and maybe I can help. Something like that......

I have Elements 6 and my advice is to get a book by Scott Kelby about Elements 7. You can find them on Amazon, just search by his last name. He explains things in detail but in plain language anyone can understand!

I am so NOT the one to help you with this - sorry. I have a digital photo frame that my boy's gave me for mother's day (um, 2008) and I still haven't taken the time to figure out how to put pictures on it. I'm sure it can't be that difficult.

I have faith in you. Keep us posted.

I don't have PE, but I am proud of you for getting a plan in action. :) I'd love to have a program like that!

Now they have a 7?!

I have PE 6. I took an online course that was offered by a local technical college. I couldn't have done it with just a book. There's still so much more it can do, but I'm enjoying the basics. After this crazy summer is over, I intend to sit down and play with it some.

I just bought a book on Photoshop Elements 7. I did have Photoshop Elements 4 and have to say that 7is a lot more user friendly. I so want to master PE 7 but haven't even come close...I am having too much fun on picnik. :) McMama has some PE lessons on her blog, though, that have been helpful. You'll find the lessons on her blog under a photography link at the top. Happy Wednesday! :)

Suzanne, I use Elements 7, and love it. I bought Photoshop Elements 7 for Dummies, and it helped some, but I mostly taught myself by trial and error and had fun doing it. There is so much more it will do that I haven't mastered, but I can do what I want to do with it, at least.

Good luck with yours, and I'll be glad to try to answer any questions you have, if I can.

I am a computer dummy. Twin puts all pics on our blog 'cause I still don't know how! I would be interested in finding out if you like the program. We'll be over on Thursdays for class!!

Well, I'm glad I'm not the only one! Chris got me Photoshop Elements 7 for Mother's Day and I've yet to figure it out. There's just so many icons...blows my mind! One day, very soon, I'm going to sit myself down for a good old fashioned learning session...but, don't hold your breath!

Oh how brave you are. I know nothing about it. I would sure like to learn. Anything you want to share I would appreciate. I use photoshop.com but it is so limited it doesn't fit my style. Good luck

I've been playing around with it for a few months now and have found some great techniques through trial and error, by googling and by doing Pioneer Woman tutorials. I'm excited to see what things you learn, and I'd be happy to share some of what I've learned too. Good luck and happy editing!

I have worked some with an old version of Photoshop, it does take some time to learn --- but such cool things you can do!

Thanks so much for all of your sweet comments on my blog --- I love hearing what you think!

I have the regular version of Photoshop, but my sister uses Elements and she is so good at it.

You should check out her blog. I think she has a lot of links to places where you can download effects for Elements. Or if you leave her a comment she can give you a rundown of places that can help you learn the program.

Good luck Suzanne!

I'd love to be able to say that I've tackled Photoshop but unfortunately I haven't. Hopefully I'll pick up a thing or two from you!

Good Luck!

Oh how exciting Suzanne. Wish I could say I had used it. So I'm excited to read about your experiences.

A class might be a good thing. Would be for me. :) My church even had a class this summer. They do a computer classes regularly.

Suzanne, I'm impressed that you purchased this and are taking steps towards learning. Looks from from your comments there are a lot of us in the same boat. Looking forward to what you learn so you can teach me! ;) Wish we could take a class together.

BTW, I LOVE your new photo! You are a beautiful lady.

I think your idea of doing a weekly Photoshop post is great -- it'll encourage you to learn it :-) And it'll be really helpful to have a place for bloggers to share what they know and help each other out.

I don't have Photoshop, so I can't help you out, sorry. But from my experience learning Adobe Illustrator, one of the best ways to learn is to just do it!! Play around, try different things, and remember the all-important UNDO option :-)

I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the Crasher Squirrel once you get Photoshop figured out :-)

Suzanne, I smiled as I read down through your post today. I thought maybe you shared with us your plan of tackling this project so that you would actually do it. That would be me. I would share my plan so that I would be held accountable for doing it.

No, I am the wrong person to ask also, although I would be so happy if you learned it and would share it with us.

But whether you actually do it or not, we will still love you and continue to visit your blog. We are forgiving and forgetful friends.

Your new picture of you, is beautiful!

This has been on my list of goals too. If I remember right it was one of my New Year's Resolutions. (OOPS!) I have some work to do before 2010! My daughter is a graphic design major and knows PE inside and out and also uses Photoshop like it is made for a first grader. I do know that whenever she has any questions, problems or wants a shortcut she googles the specific questions and always has an answer instantly. She has all the How To books, but says she learns more when she googles. So give it a try. I need to stop dragging my feet and get on it! Good luck ! Let me know how it goes!

Okay, girl. This is an old post, and I found it because of your linkwithin thingy. And I'm glad of it.

Did you ever figure that PE out? Because I will have it again soon (my computer is being repaired) but I don't have a CLUE what to do with it. And I don't have a book.

Did you ever find good help?
