Do canisters and platters cry out????

I tried to join Rhoda's party of Before and Afters the other day and blogger wouldn't let me post photos......so this is one of my little tiny b&a's......the other is my major kitchen re-do after Hurricane Ike. Anyway,

Back when I was re-doing my kitchen, I was looking for cream ware.....I found some cute things in Home Goods, Marshalls, and in WalMart. In Home Goods, I got a couple of little cream colored pitchers and a fabulous large bowl with a beaded edge. I also found two little canisters to match, shown above. Later in WalMart, I found this wonderful cream colored platter, with the same beaded edge for about $3, as I remember!! What a deal. The canisters were only about $4 or $5 each, and the bowl about $10. All really good deals.

So I brought them to the Southern Inspiration Casa, and they began to cry out to me.....(stay with me here, before you send the Looney Bin workers after me...)! They wanted embellishment, they cried out for some rub-ons of some sort. Yes, you've all seen these scrapbooking embellishments.....and they look so nice on so many things. Well, my cream ware items wanted some in the worst kind of way. So of course, I acquiesed.....if that's not spelled correctly, just know that I gave in to them. And here's what they look like now, on top of my fridge, sitting pretty with my Cathedral Luminary, a Southern Living at HOME piece that I just love!

Notice you cannot see the front of the fridge...it's a little cluttered right now, and needs a little help. So what do you think, does the Luminary need something inside it, or should I leave it as is? I am thinking the big bowl needs something in it, like red apples or green apples, what do you think????

Now my canisters and my platter are very happy, don't you think????

Suzanne, I love that you added the rub ons! Wow! Are they water safe? Where did you get them? I really like this...great makeover!

I might add some fake fruit to the pretty bowl.

Very nice - what a difference! yes, I think the bowl could use something - maybe some dried artichokes. That would pull in some of the green from the sign hung above, and i love green with cream. Oh, and I am impressed that you can even post a pic of the TOP of the fridge - much less the front. LOL

Very cute decor over the frig! I agree with the others...I see some fruit up there for a little color and texture. If you have time, please stop by my blog, I have a friend who needs all of our prayers.

The rub-ons really jaz up you new white dishes. Great idea! I agree with the other ladies that fruit or artichokes would look nice in your bowl.

I'd only put apples in the bowl if you remembered to eat them. Me, I'd forget about them or be too lazy to get a chair to eat one, and they'd all rot. But that's just me. :)

Soooo cute! I love the rub ons. I would love to know were you found them! The bowl looks great on its on, but like you I would probably put apples in it. Maybe a mix of red and green. As you know I am a red and green girl.LOL

Very cute! I would put fake fruit in the bowl since it's so high up and I think the cathedral would look darling lit up :)

My sister-in-law put a little moss in the bottom of her cathedral with a cream candle and it looks just gorgeous. I had mine all decorated for Christmas, but I'm now looking for a few ideas that will work for the rest of the year. I think the moss would work year round, but let me know if you have any other ideas! Love SLaH products!
