Twenty seven years ago.......

in a Southern city, a son was born. And today, we celebrate his 27th birthday! Wow, does the time fly. He was the newborn, who suffered through his inexperienced parents, and had to be taken for a ride in the rumbly car in the wee hours of the first night we had brought him home. His inexperienced mommy was a little nervous about nursing and when a mommy can't relax, it's difficult for a wee one to actually EAT. Needless to say after hours of crying from both the baby and the mamma....the ride in the car helped the wee one get some sleep. Obviously we got those issues worked out, and he grew up to be such a handsome young man, and found a lovely wife! He was also the little boy who got hit in the face when he looked up to catch the baseball Dad had thrown--unfortunately the glove wasn't positioned properly and he caught the ball with his face.....resulting in one heck of a shiner! Poor little guy...but he lived thru it and managed to come out ok....he got two degrees in Aerospace Engineering, so I think he wasn't too damaged!
And this same little boy learned to play a French Horn, played a few seasons of baseball, then went on to be a responsible teen who managed a part time job and a high school diploma with really good grades!
What is most impressive now to me though is the young man he has become, the man that God is fashioning. He is compassionate and tender hearted, wise and kind, and lots neater/cleaner than he was as a teen!! LOL! I love to have phone conversations with him and learn what's going on in their lives, and I am so thankful to God for all the blessings He has given us as a family! Happy Birthday, Russell, we love you!!! Russell and our daughter in law, Heather
