Fifteen minutes later.....and ON THE GO......

There's a saying in TX, especially in the Houston area....."if you don't like the weather here, just wait 15 minutes. Well, here it is the 3rd of January, and it's 75+ degrees. By Monday, the high will be in the 50's......hence the fifteen minutes later comment......ok, so a little bit longer than fifteen minutes this time.
Today my son and I ran some errands together. List in hand, we started out, and my tasks are about 50% complete....at 2:25. I love having my son home for the holidays...he's a freshman at Texas A&M. We miss him, but he is having a great time and doing so well. We are so proud of you, son!
Anyway, we got the car cleaned, ran by the bank and the post office, exchanged something at the Gap and made a stop by Wal-Mart. I still have to run out to Whole Foods and to Target. What errands do you run in your town? When I grocery stop, I shop at Kroger or HEB, which is a Texas chain. For a quick neighborhood stop, I'll go to Randall's, which is owned by Safeway. I really don't like to shop there often. For other things, I like WalMart or Target, which is my favorite of the two. We have a couple of Hobby Lobby and Michael's stores for crafting, and just got Home Goods in the last year. That's a fun errand! There's always TJ Maxx or Marshall's or Ross. For thrift stores, there are a couple of Goodwill stores and some smaller community thrift stores. I never seem to be quite as lucky, though, as some of my blog friends who find amazing buys at the thrift store! I really don't do a whole lot of shopping, but the options are pretty good around here. We have a large mall, and there are a couple of "outlet" malls if I want to drive about 25 or 30 minutes. I can't say that we lack for anything, except maybe a Trader Joe's....and some other really good stores I've heard you all talk about. All in all, we have most things within driving distance. I live outside of Houston, so I can always drive in if we don't have it out here.
So what's on your list of "to dos" today......I still have some home projects to complete as well. So I'll finish up here and go tackle the rest! Have a good day, ya'll!

75 degrees!! I think I need to visit Houston. It's been overcast here today and no where near 75. Anyway, sounds like you've had a full day. I have not been out of my pj's too long. Hubby is in NC building a ramp for his dad, dd is working and I've piddled around the house today, taking a few breaks to blog and watch a chic flic. It's been a great day!

I'm in Houston (near downtown in Garden Oaks). I was fussing today that the weather was SO warm. I packed away my Christmas stuff finally and made several trips to my shed out back...it was HOT!!!!
I'm a shopped and LOVE to drop my my favorites of Target, Big Lots, Marshall's, TJMaxx, Ross, and 19th Street in the Heights for cool, eclectic shops and antiques. I'm not much of a WalMart girl...it's always so manic in there. Whole Foods is fun to go to when I have time to poke around and it's not on a Saturday afternoon when the whole city is there. A new HEB Superstore was just opened by Memorial City in November and that's a GREAT grocery store.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow....it's my last day of vacation before heading back to work....ugggghhh!

Well as I sit here listening to the north winds howl, I can't imagine your weather. Well yes I can. We used to live in So. Calif. Even Enid OK seemed to be warmer than it should for the holiday season!
We don't have quite the variety of stores you do, but we do have a TJ Maxx which I am THRILLED about! For once I think I am shopped out. My mom and I did a lot of after Christmas sales shopping.
Yes, i would love for us to help each other with our goals this year!! :)

When I lived in Texas they had a Garden Ridge and now living in Arizona I do miss it.
Hobby Lobby somewhat fills the need, but not quite! :)

That's one thing I like about my town, we have good shopping, but not too good. I have my pick of all the awesome crafting stores, but not so much in the mall department. I don't mind that though, because I'm too rotund to fit into most mall clothes. :)

In Fort Lauderdale today...spent some office time at Fedex Kinkos. Then off to the Sawgrass Mills Outlet Mall--stalking the Ralph Lauren Store...I must have stayed in that store almost two hours obsessing over whether the pony on the caps I wanted matched the pony on the shirts/sweaters I wanted. I think the sales people were probably a little curious as to what I was doing. Then I strolled along the shops of Las Olas Blvd. in downtown. After that, I had dinner with a friend at P.F. Changs--yummy!
