What is this blog all about anyway, dot, dot, dot?

Well,  yesterday, I reached 200 friends/followers.  I like to think of you as friends, because frankly, I am not a leader to follow.   I have always been a follower, whether it be because of the insecurity to just step out and lead, or because sometimes I can be a titch lazy, and would rather have someone else lead the way....until I decide I don't want to follow.  As my husband often reminds me, I can be a little on the stubborn side, a little too independent for my britches.......thanks, honey.  So does that make me a rebel, if I follow when I want and take my own path when I want?  Makes my brain hurt to be too analytical...and my husband the engineer, does it so well!  Maybe I should ask him to analyze and figure it out, but I suspect he already has.
Today is a whole bunch of RANDOM.....

Anyway, like I said, I reached 200 friends....golly gee, thanks!  I never thought blogging would lead to so many great friendships with people I've never met.......oh, but isn't it just so fun!  I never thought that many people would want to READ what I blog about...which leads me to the question in the title...what IS THIS BLOG all about?  I'm not sure I have a niche for my blog.  I write about recipes, about homemaking....I love crafts, but rarely do I find time for them, do them or even post about them.  I DO, however find myself using a lot of ellipses....you know the dot, dot, dot.  Oh, and I use GOOGLE a whole lot for looking up things like "what do you call the dot, dot, dot?"!!! and for images that just might coincide with what I am blogging about for the day.
But a niche.......a signature, a defining, overarching purpose for this blog?  I am afraid I don't know....maybe you should tell me.  What do you think this blog is really all about?  (brings to mind the song, Alfie...what's it all about, Alfie????)
I do indeed love encouraging others toward something....like getting things done ,like not living in fear,  like being the best you can be, like being a true friend or encourager or being there when someone hurts.  But does that give me a purpose?  I enjoy spurring others onto having the right priorities or perspective, but does that make me a motivational blogger????
So whether or not it's really important to figure out what kind of blogger I am, I have been putting some time into thinking about it, and any direction this little blog o'mine will take........so what would you like to see more of at Southern Inspiration?  What could I do that would make you leave feeling like your visit here was inspiring........give me some of YOUR random thoughts today.......dot, dot, dot!

I would say that you should keep doing exactly what you are doing! I enjoy every visit here and find that you share a variety of goodies, and I don't care one bit about the dot, dot, dot thing. You definitely have a way with words and you can make me stop and think about things. Congratulations on your great blogging! Keep it up!

I like to think that I offer a variety of things and have no intention of being pigeon holed into one particular theme, if you will....even though the blog tutorials say you should pick a theme and stick with it. So, in being the good girl and aligning with what the 'experts' say....I think our theme is 'sharing our hearts'. You do that very well and that is what you should just keep on keeping on. By the way, I have always had the ellipses disease and just can't help myself.

Anita, I am sticking with you, friend! You've got it going on! ;D
I like the sharing our hearts theme....fits to a "T"...and I am glad I share the ellipses disease with you! haha. I guess it's just the way I talk, just sort of wandering onto the next topic! :D

It's all about you. What you do. What you like, your family, your dog., your friends, what's on your mind. Most blogs really only have the purpose of giving us a place to be us. We share what ever we want. The Good, The Bad and The Ugly! And we all love to see ours and, see that everyone else has the same day to day that we do. It's about Life!
I love visiting you and I'm glad you like your space even if you are not sure what it's all about!
Hugs, Lisa

My dear Suzanne ~ I really hear you. I love your blog and am guilty of not commenting when I should do so,.. I never have enough time! I ask myself the same constantly. My answer is always this: my therapist told me to journal back in 2007 when I was deep in PTSD. I chose blogging as a way of journaling.
I have very few followers, hardly ever any consistent coments compared to all these lovely new blogs springing up that get 1000's of comments. But I'm not in it for the comments or followers. I BLOG FOR MY SANITY! I blog for me. I've never monetized or tried to give decorating advice like so many do. So I'm just a no name blogger thats writes and posts what I want to and when I want to. And I like it this way. Bloggers can love me, hate me, ignore me, it's all cool with me. I have this awesome pictorial journal of my life these pasts few years.
I think I've been through some of the worst times anyone could imagine, I'm moving over to the happy side of life! I'm excited and motivated, ready to take on the world!

xoxo!

I hear you, Suzanne. . . I wonder often "What kind of blogger am I?" And I'm not sure. I've never defined and refined my purpose. But maybe it's the same for both me and you--our blogs have lots of purposes because WE have lots of purposes! We've lived long enough that we know the lyrics to "Alfie," long enough to know that life is complicated, and multi-faceted. And blogging is one of the things that brings us together. So I say--keep on keeping on, sweet friend!

IT DOESN'T MATTER...YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE ANY CERTAIN TYPE OF BLOGGER...JUST GO WITH THE FLOW OF YOUR LIFE. YOUR LIFE HAS VALUE TO ME AND YOUR LIFE LIFTS MINE. I HATE IT WHEN WOMEN ALL FALL IN LINE AND FOLLOW SOMEONE WHO "THINKS" THEY ARE THEY LEADER, REMINDS ME OF GRADE SCHOOL! WE ARE ALL DIFFERENT, THANK GOODNESS AND BECAUSE WE ARE, WE BLESS EACH OTHERS LIVES. KEEP ON BEING ALL THAT YOU ARE, THATS WHAT DREW ME TO YOU! THANKS FOR ALL THAT YOU SHARE AND GIVE. COME SAY HI :D

I think Julie has hit the nail on its proverbial head: You're a go-with-the-flow blogger! Whatever's on your mind is what you're writing about; nothing wrong with that! It keeps your writing worth reading.

Carry on, my friend!

I think your blog title says it all: Southern. Inspiration.

You write about what inspires you, you inspire us and encourage us, and you have a little Southern flair while doing it. ;)

I wonder about my own blog ALL THE TIME. I truly have no niche. Just a complete, jumbled, random mess. ;) But I'm okay with it.

I think you have a start for your "5 Reasons My Blog Rocks" post. ;) (I love ellipses too!!!)

Congrats on 200!!!!

I think everyone should just blog about what interests them and not worry about what people want to see on a blog. Just keep doing what you've been doing!

Suzanne, My first visit here was your perspective blog and I was just starting to blog. I come here to be fed and inspired and you do that so well. You are real and entertaining. Just love your....as I use them too. They just help get a thought across sometime. I really think the blog we go back to over and over are usually written by someone we would be friends with in "real" life.
Keep on doing what you do. I WILL be back.

Suzanne, you are sharing your heart with others and that is all that is necessary. You don't have to fit into a particular mold, as far as I am concerned. I love reading your blog and sharing in your life...learning about you as a person, getting new recipes, decorating ideas, etc. I love fellow bloggers who share my love for the Lord, have a positive attitude and who enjoy life!!! Love & blessings from NC!

I think every blogger struggles with this question from time to time. I like your blog as it is - southern, inspiring, warm and welcoming. I like the variety and always enjoy my visits! Hope you have a good day...

Just keep doing what you are doing my friend. "Sometimes you choose your ministry, and sometimes your ministry chooses you."

Hmm.....someone said that recently .

I decided that is the beauty of blogging. If someone doesn't like what I blog about, they can go find another blog. My posts are very random. Nobody knows what they might find when they come visit me, but when I started the blog, I started it for me (and hopefully my grandchildren will want to read it some day). Like most other bloggers, I had no idea I was going to have visitors. I just try to keep in mind that my blog is my journal, and if someone wants to read it, I am thrilled. Obviously, if you have 200 followers, you're doing something right! Just keep up the good work. laurie

Suzanne, as someone who also has no idea exactly what my blog is about I understand your questioning. I had a totally different idea when I started blogging than I do now. Oh well...go where He leads!
