getting it done......then resting.....

I must agree with my friend Renee from Add More Chocolate....she has begun a challenge this year, and I am following along......this is day number three. Here's what she had to say today....

clip_image002Sundays are a day of rest, to be set aside and focused on others. Did you know the Lord builds in 52 days of vacation for you every year? What a blessing! Share one of your biggest, brightest smiles with someone today.
"A glad heart makes a cheerful face..." Proverbs 15:13

I am privileged to go to the same church with Renee, so I got to see her bright and cheery face this morning. Who have you smiled at, loved on and encouraged today? Make it your challenge today to bless five people with a smile, an encouraging word or a hug before the day is done.

Hi Suzanne, Thanks for dropping by my blog today. I smiled at many people today at church and they smiled back. It felt good to be back to regular church with the holidays of 09 behind us and I think others felt that way too. We have started a new Sunday school class and a new series of sermons.

You're so lucky to have a very good and inspiring friend and you must treasure her.

I just reread your post, the best post of 09. It's a great post and I totally agree with everything you said.

Take care in the new year.

You just named my 2010 resolution! My mother in law is absolutely inspiring when it comes to encouraging others. She never keeps her positive thoughts to herself. Many times I think something nice but don't say it. Not her, she overflows with kindness. It's really inspiring to be with her.

Hi Suzanne, what an amazing challenge, not just for today, but for any day! I am so blessed with a wonderful church and Christian friends! They bring me and my family such joy and encouragement and I hope that I can return the same to them! Thanks for sharing this post. I'm heading over to check out your friend's post! And FYI...you always brighten my day when you visit over at my blog, with your sweet comments! And your own blog is wholesome and always upbeat! Thanks for that, dear blogging friend! :) ~Rhonda

We had a snow last night so church was cancelled. But rarely get to go. My fault. I did smile at my son , brother ,mom and neice and my son's friend is here watching the Cowboy game. I smiled at him but not sure if he liked it. :)

I like this challenge! :) We didn't make it to church today...hubs not feeling well. :( We're also thinking about finding a new Sunday School class...hopefully one with some other couples we can connect with. :)

Love this post. I try, every day, to be encouraging to others but some days I fall short. Thanks for this wonderful perspective.

well then, I will bless you with a virtual smile and a hug. Thank you for this post. And I do love the idea that the Lord gave us 52 vacation days a year! Helps put a good definition on the Man wasn't made for the sabbath, but the the sabbath for man! Thanks for that too!

Family went to church this morning, and my son brought home three friends for lunch, one being of Moslem background from Iran. Don't know what his family life is, but we prayed the entire meal that our family would be that 'shining light on a hill.' We never know who God will bring into our lives for Him to touch.
Thanks for the lovely encouragement today.

Great idea! I didn't get to check my blog until late this evening. I believe I did accomplish that challenge today though. Love that. Always try to make a point to smile a lot each day and to try and encourage or uplift at least a couple of people along the way.
Hugs,
Tara

It was so raw outside today HH and I stayed at home. We smiled at each other all day and passed on a few smiles and laughs on the phone to our kiddos. I like that daily challenge. We need to keep it up. You for sure are always up beat and encouraging. blessings

Hi Suzanne, that is a great reminder to smile at someone else. It makes everything better to think of others and not keep your focus on yourself. Thank you for stopping by and leaving me such a kind message.

I need some design advice, if you have time will you stop by and check out my 2010 todo's post.

Thank you. :))

As always, a beautifully written post. I have only seen my friends at the Y today. I tried to smile at them even though it was -15 this morning! :>}

I love this advice. A smile has often blessed my heart like nothing else in the midst of a busy and somewhat difficult day. Thanks for this encouraging admonition.
