Thursday thrills.......

Yesterday I was walking into the local HEB, a Texas grocery store chain for all of you foreigners...ok, well, those NOT from Texas. I glanced to the side when I heard this tiny little voice calling to me--"take me home." At first glance, I thought I must be seeing things, so of course I moved on over to the plants they had positioned at the front of the store. Those marketing folks got this one spot on. It was a Bougenvellia in the most gorgeous color I have ever seen.....I could not leave it there. I knew "yes, indeed", it needed to go home with me. It reminds me of a hymn, of which I'll share the lyrics:

This is my Father's World (if you know it,sing along!)

This is my Father's world,
and to my list'ning ears,
all nature sings and round me rings,
the music of the spheres.
This is my Father's world,
I rest me in the thought,
Of rocks and trees, of skies and seas,
His Hand the wonders wrought.

This is my Father's world,
the birds their carols raise,
the morning light, the lily white
declare their Maker's praise.
This is my Father's world
He shines in all that's fair;
in the rustling grass I hear Him pass
He speaks to me everywhere.

This is my Father's world,
O let me ne'er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father's world;
the battle is not done;
Jesus who died shall be satisfied
and earth and heaven be one.

Good Morning dear friend from Texas. I came over to see what you are up to today and found a beautiful post. Love your spring flower...can't remember how to spell it. We've lived in areas where they grow and they are beautiful. I love the color of yours.

I also love this hymn! I will be singing it in my head all morning, which is a good thing!

I thought I should sign up for the giveaway on today's post, but you directed me to Tuesday.

Is it Friday yet?????????? :):)

A plant has never called my name before. We don't speak the same language. That hymn on the other hand...speaks right to my soul. Thank you!
Looking forward to the shopping trip tomorrow :-)

I can see why you need that flower. I just may need one too,hehe. It does say spring to me and I adore that soft pink. Is that the kind with the little torns? I get two of them mixed up all the time. I lost most of mine in the winter so I need to go a shoppin'.... I love Texas too,smile.. both of my best friends live there~

It is gorgeous. Bougenvellia is one of the plants that I miss from when we lived in CA. It won't grow in Idaho because it's too dang cold. Sniff.

I need something that shouts spring today...our temps plunged back down into the 40's! If this is the south I don't even want to think about what the north is like! Thanks for trying to help me with the create a link thing...I still don't have it figured out but I am working on it!
