It seems Fridays come really quickly this summer.........how can it be nearly July already? And oh, by the way, I want to wish my sweet little friends, the Howell quintuplets, a VERY happy birthday! Yesterday was their second birthday!!! Read more about them at www.howellquints.blogspot.com!
Before I know it, it will be time for my daughter to pack up and move up to college!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a mixed bag of excitement for her, anticipation to see what God will bring both in her life and ours, the thoughts (many swirl in and out!) of an empty nest, the delighted anticipation of our first grandbaby.....Gee, so many things will change in the next six months! And you, gracious blog-reader, are going to help me get thru all of it!! How sweet of you!
But for now, let's have a fun Friday Fives.......
1. Do you have great family memories of time spent at the beach?
2. What would you rather do, spend a week at the beach or a week in the mountains?
3. What smells remind you of summer?
4. What food do you enjoy in summer that you don't usually have in the other seasons?
5. Do you long for fall, or are you one to wish summer would last forever???

Happy Friday Suzanne. :) I'm going to answer these questions today.
1. Do you have great family memories of time spent at the beach? Not with my parents, they are not beachy people. We have enjoyed many beach trips with our own kids.
2. What would you rather do, spend a week at the beach or a week in the mountains? Definitely the beach but a week is too long for me.
3. What smells remind you of summer? Grass, fruit, honeysuckle.
4. What food do you enjoy in summer that you don't usually have in the other seasons? Watermelon
5. Do you long for fall, or are you one to wish summer would last forever???
Love all the seasons. Right now I'm loving summer but about August....that will be enough.
1. Do you have great family memories of time spent at the beach? Yes! We have been going to the beach as a family my entire life. I'm making memories at the beach right now!
2. What would you rather do, spend a week at the beach or a week in the mountains?
I live in the mountains so a week at the beach is always out vacation.
3. What smells remind you of summer?
Freshly cut grass and a grill
4. What food do you enjoy in summer that you don't usually have in the other seasons?
Tomatoes, corn, beans, squash and cucumbers...I love eating from the garden.
5. Do you long for fall, or are you one to wish summer would last forever???
I wish summer would last and last and last. I do enjoy all of the seasons, but summer is my favorite.
1. Good beach memories, both as a child and an adult, always with family.
2. Husband would rather have the beach; I opt for the mountains, but we always go to the beach, except for 2001.
3. Honeysuckle, mimosa tree blossoms, summer rain
4. Garden-grown tomatoes, homemade ice cream, watermelon
5. Summer's good until the 100+ temps set in, and I count down the weeks until fall. Then I'm ready for fall when it gets here.
1. I have awesome family memories spent at the beach. We always went to Myrtle Beach (before it got to be so huge) and we stayed in this amazing cottage up on stilts. My Mom cooked the whole week we were there and we had the most fun being together. Riding the rides at the pavillion, etc.
2. My sister lives in the mountains and my parents have a home there, as well, so I love the mountains. But I also really love the beach too. I spend more time at the mountains, because I can go there anytime and visit family.
3. Smells of the summer are fresh grass, the smell of rain after a summer thunderstorm, the grill (yum)!
4. Foods I love in the summer are fresh tomatoes, corn, squash, zucchini, fresh peaches and fresh okra, cucumbers, etc. Anything right out of the garden. These are just not as good when they aren't fresh.
5. By the time September gets here, I am looking forward to fall. I love all seasons, but I think summer is my favorite. There is something fun and exciting about each season.
1. Do you have great family memories of time spent at the beach? Yes! We had a lake house when the kiddos were young; we retreated up their all the time. Beach fun was always included.
2. What would you rather do, spend a week at the beach or a week in the mountains? Probably the beautiful mountains!!
3. What smells remind you of summer? Rain, grass, flowers, and, unfortunately hot, sweaty things!
4. What food do you enjoy in summer that you don't usually have in the other seasons? Fresh out-of-the-garden veggies!
5. Do you long for fall, or are you one to wish summer would last forever??? No not forever; I usually tire of the many 100 plus degree days and look forward to fall.
A day late... I've been traveling.
1. This might seem odd, but my most significant beach memory was just weeks before my father died. We had planned an extended family trip to the beach, and he wanted to go regardless. It was a special time, although he spent most of it in bed watching out the window. I cherish it.
2. MOUNTAINS MOUNTAINS MOUNTAINS!
3. I think the smell of fresh cut grass and chlorine.
4. watermelon and corn on the cob
5. I actually PREFER FALL as a season, but this year I want summer to last and last for the same reason that you do.
College...
sniff.
I know what you mean about summer flying so fast. Although I love our summers here it is just too hot. By the time we almost think we cant stand another day of it...God blessed us with a fall day. Have a great weekend and stay cool~
