Vacation Bible School

I am very busy this week doing the crafts for our Upward Bound Vacation Bible School........so not hanging out at the blog as much.... These people I call family still want meals, and clean clothes, and such!!
Have a great week with an Upward Bound attitude!! :)

So what memories do YOU have of VBS? What was your favorite part? We have an awesome team set up this year at our church making our week happen! See you soon!

The VBS that I attended went for 2 weeks! It was in a little (less than 60) rural town and we all loved it! When I got too old for class I became the music director and taught all the kids their songs. The bonus of 2 weeks is EVERYONE learned the songs, whether you wanted to or not!

Being a small farming community this worked very well. I still played piano for that VBS through out my high school years. That little Presbyterian church no longer has VBS and has less than 20 folks who attend, but my kids won't miss a chance to attend Sunday there when we visit my parents.

I have lots of memories of VBS...I always loved craft time! When my girls were smaller, I volunteered all the time at our church to help out with VBS. I always loved seeing the excitement on all the children's faces when they learned about God. Made my day!

Ahem, scuse me for being truthful, but Vacation Bible School was my savior! When my little ones were handfulls...VBS saved my life!
Now I am older, OLD and childless... I need to volunter my time back.
You are so awesome and wonderful for giving your time to our future generations.
XOXO!

In our little farm community, ever child of every denomination came to all the VBS. It kept the kids busy for 4 weeks and the teens all helped. I had some in elementary and some in middle school. They all went I usually helped with the crafts too, sometimes the treats.
I loved it.

This is terrible, but the first thing that popped into my head was when I got to be one of the "helpers" one summer (maybe after 7th grade??). I worked outside doing Recreation with my sister, a boy I had a BIG crush on, and his younger brother. We had a blast, and I remember loving playing water balloon toss with the little ones. :)

For many years of my life, VBS was a big week of each summer. I can still feel what it felt like when I walked into the door of the filled church. Bible schools have become so much more advanced and exciting than when I went. Mainly, I was thrilled to spend time with all of my friends for five nights a week. I did learn things too. Thanks for the reminder of this special memory.

I have been to VBS for as long as I can remember...first as a child and then teaching. It is one of my favorite things to do in the church year.
I always think of the watery red Kool-Aid and those creme filled vanilla cookies we always had for refreshments. Loved the marching in together and saying the pledges and songs.

Sweet, sweet memories!

My favorite memory is gluing macaroni on a board to spell out the Beatitudes ... lol I loved learning new songs, too.

I wish every child could go to Bible School.
