We have said for some time now, we look forward to having an empty nest. Not that we don't love our children, by any stretch of the imagination......we've just hardly ever HAD an empty nest. Our first child was born just ten and a half months after we were married. So we've always had children. We do look forward to days of it just being us. We love our children and look forward to enjoying them as adults! And we've had Aggie, our dachsund for nearly eleven years now......weren't really giving in to the the children's voiced opinion (often) of how much they wanted a new puppy. We were glad for them to experience this when they got their own households!
So, Saturday, son #2 calls from MS, on his way back from his RUF summer conference......a friend had encountered a mamma golden retriever who had seven babies and they were trying to find homes for them. His girlfriend's family had lost a family pet recently, so they wanted TWO of them.......couldn't we just take ONE of them??? so initially I said NO, NO, No, no, no, no.......then I said, OK, this puppy can be yours IF you take full financial responsibility of it, and by the way, call your dad to ok it by him.....(I was away from home). Well, hours later, five college students and three golden puppies landed on my doorstep!!! I was sunk, I think.
Aren't they adorable??? We all love puppies....but a Marley?? What will we do if she ends up like Marley, and is obstinate and untrainable and we love her all at the same time??? So we did manage to see off to their homes, four of the college students and two of the puppies! whew....except now the nest contains a new addition.....meet Lucie. I AM sunk. Puppy love, my friends. oh, no.
Oh, my heart!!!! SOOOOO cute!!!!!! I love golden retrievers. :) They are big, sweet babies. :) Congrats on the new addition!!!
ReplyDeleteI love Lucie! (Har!) She's so sweet and tiny and cuddly.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my world! I, too, said, "No. Absolutely no more pets. Espcially not an inside dog." And now I have a "obstinate and untrainable and we love her all at the same time???" Gracie!
Ohhh how precious! They are so darling. I miss having lil babies.
ReplyDeleteOh they are so cute! When each of my children left for college I ended up with a new puppy. I guess they replaced my children. :-) Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteOMG!!!!! She has puppy breath and everything. Congrats to you on the new addition to your family. I want some serious pics girl!!!
ReplyDeleteThe puppies are darling.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the helpful info - I'm off to try it right now.
Awwwwww they are all just precious!! I have to watch myself with animals or we would have a zoo!! Can't wait to see more about Lucie!♥

oh my goodness, how could you resist?
ReplyDeleteADORABLE. We have a Marley, his name is Max and he is wonderful. He may not be the world's idea of a perfect pup but he loves us so much, and we need him. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by my blog!
Oh you are a Momma. Too sweet. Puppies are so adorable when they are that age. Too bad they can't stay little.
ReplyDeleteI can relate to the "nest" being filled very soon after marriage! LOL! Ashley was born 9 1/2 months into our marriage. We wanted kids very soon, but didn't think it would happen quite that fast! LOL!
ReplyDeleteThe puppies are too cute!!! :)
THANKS!!! SO. MUCH. for the magazine I won! I got it out of the mailbox last night and I LOVE it! The little tags were just precious, too, that you included! I will include the package in my next post and THANK YOU properly and publicly! :) The mag has such great inspiration and recipes!
~hugs, Rhonda :)
Oh my goodness, puppy love, that's for sure!!! And, Marley was a lab, goldens are much smarter :) ~ or so I've been told!!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sher
OH my, such cuteness!
ReplyDeleteThey are so sweet! Congratulations! Good luck with your babies!
ReplyDeletesorry~I wasn't logged in. This is melissa from 320 * Sycamore :)
ReplyDeleteMarley was a lab. I think that personality sometimes occurs in labs. I don't know sitters that well but I've never known of one whose nature was that wild. Can't wait to hear more of the adventures of Lucie.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie yet but I did read the book. You know I'm an animal lover but the whole time I was reading that book I was thinking I'm not sure I would have kept that dog. :(
The dogs are adorable!
ReplyDeleteI tried to email you my info for the prize I won, but my email came back to me undelivered. Can you please email me at philipc@ptd.net and I'll get you my address in a return email to you!
Thanks again for the magazine!!!
Hi,
ReplyDeleteWhat cute puppies. I have wanted a pet for awhile, but have held off and enjoyed my grown DD’s cat instead. We always had a pet growing up and I miss having one around. I would like a cute lap dog, but if a free golden retriever came my way I sure would be tempted. ~Cathy~
Oops, that is a retriever. Not a sitter. Well, she'll be a great dog I'm sure. ;)
ReplyDeleteShe's precious! I know what you mean about the empty nest. They tend to fly home don't they? And bring friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, puppies with them (O:

How could you have possibly said "no", when they are so adorable. It happens everytime when someone holds a baby golden. My good friend raises them. She will be having two new litters very soon. See if we can say "no"... Congratulations to you!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how adorable! I love your non-empty nest!
ReplyDeleteLook at those darling babies...I am a complete sucker for little puppies!
ReplyDeleteI can just smell that sweet puppy breath right now. True love !
